Another word mystery may have been solved tonight at dinner. The babbling around the house lately has been out of control (and adorable, if I do say myself). Ben, in particular, has been having the most amazing and unintelligible conversations! I would estimate that I understand about 50% of what the twins say lately.

Two thing that are easy to understand are Nana and Bubba (Grandpa). You can imagine my confusion then when Ben started shouting Bubba at the back yard and pointing across the lawn at nothing. After several times of this happening, I stopped and watched for Ben to do it again. To my great surprise, I believe Ben thinks my parents have moved in next door! Every time the neighbor, putzing in his yard, crossed into his field of vision, Ben would excitedly call for my dad! All that Skype time has left him wanting more, evidently.

Butterflies are Booming!

We're all going stir crazy around here lately! When's the warm weather coming already? In an effort to get out of the house for a while, Gary brought the munchkins down the the butterfly exhibit down at the botanical gardens. The kids hadn't been there since the hot days of last July; the pictures are a little different this time around! While it seems to be impossible to catch a smile on camera these days, the kids (and Gary) had a great time. Thank goodness Grandma Ann was along to snatch some photos! Reportedly, Mia was a little anxious around the horse, but got over it quickly as she ran all over the place. Both kids were thrilled with the butterflies, which is one of their favorite words right now. Of course, Mumma sat this one out. Things with wings-- I think not.

Crayons

Can I just say that I love crayons-- the waxy smell and smooth feeling as they glide across the paper. I'm rather thrilled that the twins are now old enough to spend some time coloring, especially since that means that Mumma can too! Of course, every mark doesn't always end up on the paper but we're making progress. Mia loves to color the eyes on every sheet we have, and then scribble furiously all over the paper (and possibly the table). Ben has to be reminded often that crayons go on paper, and not in our mouths. I keep reminding myself that they're washable and non-toxic!
