You'd never imagine...

Isn't it funny how peaceful they look when they're sleeping? You'd never imagine, looking at her little sleeping face, that she'd torn her room to shreds before collapsing between her sheets. You'd never imagine that she'd gone through all her drawers, trying on multiple outfits and pjs before succumbing to sleep. You'd never imagine the blinds pulled down, the baskets emptied, the strewn clothing. The precursor to this sleeping child was anything but peaceful.

Snowfall

It's no secret that I'm not a fan of this January weather.  If I could have a perfect Michigan, I'd alternate the months of May, June, and October over and over again.  I've hibernated nearly every winter since I retired my sled, even leaving my hat a mittens at school for recess duty.  Throw blankets, cups of tea, and good books have been the only way to survive.

Imagine my surprise at finding myself raising two preschoolers who adore the snow.  It's been a while since I allowed myself to even ponder that such people exist.  Really?  Putting your hands in the snow until they're so cold they tingle?  Getting wet from snow sneaking up your snow pants?  Doesn't it bother you when your nose hairs instantly freeze together?  No?


Evidently, they're all in.  They're up for the cold and the wetness, the red noses and icy fingers, the snowmen and sleds.  I guess it's time for a pair of mittens and a hat for home too.

The Zoo goes Boo!

Three is a great age for Halloween-- pumpkin painting and carving, costumes, and trick or treating.  The shortened toddler memories of the twins make all of these things just like new this year!  We've really loved taking advantage of all the harvest events this autumn with multiple pumpkin patch trips, but the kids really enjoyed going to the zoo Friday with Sammy.  They haven't stopped talking about it!  They previewed their cowboy/cowgirl costumes at "Zoo goes Boo" and even got to do a little trick or treating. Never has a little licorice been so loved!  This next week will be very busy, with 3 additional costume runs, but I don't think they'll get sick of playing this game as long as candy follows.  Easily swayed is the heart of a preschooler!
